It’s Not a Party, It’s a Cult

A couple of weeks ago, the University of Florida rejected a proposal to award Jeb Bush an honorary degree. After all, George’s smarter brother had enacted policies that reduced educational opportunities for minorities, and pushed voucher programs that reduced funding for public education.
In retaliation, the House Schools & Learning Council of the Republican-controlled legislature passed an amendment to force the university to rename its school of education the “Jeb Bush College of Education”.
I’m not making that up. This is not politics, it’s idol worship.
The amendment includes the requirement to erect “suitable markers” announcing the college’s new name, and to use the new name in all university documents.
I just looked up the text of the bill, and it only says “erect suitable markers”. It doesn’t say specifically what the markers have to be, or where exactly they have to be erected.
So since that gives the university a certain discretion about the placement, I recommend to placing a marker over each toilet in every restroom.
Alas, the university would probably consider it improper to add a footnote to every instance of the name in its documents to explain that “jeb” is the imperative singular form of the Polish word for “fuck”.

Oh, JEB has given us all quite an education.
So, in an odd way, it seems appropriate.
Better his name should be placed on a school than on a courthouse.

This is exactly like renaming an airport in DC after the guy who dismantled PATCO.
