The Ron Paul Juggernaut

Just as Ron Paul won the recent Minnesota GOP straw poll, he won one taken at a Virginia Republican function, too.

I’m looking forward to seeing him go third party when he loses in the primaries next spring. He’ll take away enough Republican voters to let even Kucinich win.  As for those who think he’ll take away more progs than cons:  Not when they see him do charmingly racist, anti-American stuff like this — stuff that is a hallmark of modern Republican campaigning.

    Sounds like a plan. :)

    I don’t think that’s why he’s running.

I’m afraid the idea is to siphon off as many disaffected Dem votes as possible. After the last 12 months of Neville Chamberlain imitations by prominent congressional Dems, there are quite a large number of those.

He’s Ralph Nader’s replacement for 2008. Since the original is used up and has hence been discarded.

  3. Stormie, that’s why I’ve been showing David Neiwert’s and other folks’ stuff exposing Ron Paul’s racism and ties to the eliminationist right-wing, exposing him as Pat Buchanan with better PR. The Democrats and progressives will read it and know to stay away, but since for Republicans racism is a feature, not a bug, they’ll be drawn to him even more.

The “Juggernaut” is driven by the momentum of ordinary Americans seeking a Presidential candidate with morals, whose political view constrained by our Constitution, and who has a willingness to address issues dealing with the problems our own country faces. Ron Paul is not perfect, we leave that to God, but he is better than the statist, torture-condoning, imperialistic, parasitic tax-loving, and corporate driven “top-tier” candidates offered by our controlled media. Those fearful sheep who pray to remain on the good side of their Washington Shepherd and are willing to be sheered and herded please get out of the way. There is a Juggernaut.

I hope they will. But I don’t have much confidence that they will, if they’re already internally committed.

I’ve run into entirely too many people who just don’t want to hear it. They’re acting like survivors of a shipwreck, clinging to any piece of flotsam they can find.

They are not happy when told they are really hugging a shark. So they tune us out.

I saw this same fatal attraction for Ralph Nader on display in 2004.

Turncoat Ralph got hammered in 2004 because he was running in Dem primaries, and this put him slap-bang up against the Democratic party establishment. It wasn’t because we managed to peel away enough of the True Believers. We didn’t.

Note that this is a mistake Ron Paul is not making.

Ron Paul is Turncoat Ralph with brains.

Oh, and speaking of True Believers …. guess who just dropped by.

  7. Oh, of course, Stormie. The Ron Paulistas are VERY computer-savvy and VERY active online. So are the Stormfront crew.

But boasting of a one-day $4 million online haul only reminds me of how Howard Dean — back in 2003, when online political fundraising was in its infancy — pulled in eye-popping numbers. He still didn’t get the nomination, in large part because Joe Trippi isn’t as smart as he thinks he is (forcing Edwards to unilaterally disarm is not all that bright), but also because he got bogged down in a death match with Gephardt in Iowa.

Meanwhile, Ron Paul has about the same amount of official money as Fred Thompson. But even Snoozy Uncle Fred’s going to have far more in the way of 527 support than Our Man From Rushdoony.

Funny you should mention Howard Dean. Ron Paul may be making the same mistake in New Hampshire that Dean made in Iowa: sending in an “army” of out-of-staters to impress the locals with their enthusiasm, which will probably have the contrary effect of pissing off people who don’t like to be told what to do.

  9. Eggsacktly, MEC.
