Yes, McCain Is a Republican

John McCain’s response to skyrocketing gasoline prices is to propose depriving the U.S. Treasury of revenue.
McCain urged Congress to institute a “gas-tax holiday” by suspending the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day. By some estimates, the government would lose about $10 billion in revenue.
Yes, folks, he’s got that kneejerk “Is there a problem? The solution is tax cuts!” down cold.
I’m going to make a wild guess that his proposal doesn’t include any suggestions for how we’ll pay for the road projects that the gasoline tax funds. Maybe we’ll just let more bridges collapse instead.
I’m also going to make a wild guess that he didn’t say a word about the oil companies’ federal subsidies and sky-high profits.
