Why Did The FBI Destroy That Anthrax Sample Without Testing It?

Rather strange, don’t you think?*
And why, if they allegedly had Ivins tagged as the killer back in 2005, were they still working on ruining the life of Steven Hatfill?

I’m taking the low road here, but any time spent harassing Steven Hatfill was time well spent.
From Wikipedia:
Hatfill served as an enlisted soldier in the U.S. Army in the late 1970s. (In 1999, he would tell a journalist during an interview that he had been a “captain in the U.S. Special Forces”, but in a subsequent investigation the Army stated that he had never served with the Special Forces[2].)
Hatfill then settled in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) where his claimed military associations included work with the United States Army’s Institute for Military Assistance, the Rhodesian SAS, and the Selous Scouts. He stayed on to study medicine (1978-84) at the Godfrey Huggins Medical School [3] in Salisbury (now Harare), graduating (after failing in 1983) in 1984. In that year he also took a board certification in hematological pathology from South Africa. The South African government recruited him to be medical officer on a one-year (1986) tour of duty in Antarctica. He then served (1987-90) as an Emergency Medical Officer at the Conradie General Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. A medical residency (1991-93) at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, resulted in a Master’s Degree in Medicine and board certification in hematopathology.

Your link doesn’t work, PW.
It refers back to http://phoenixwoman.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php. I’m no Word Press Guru, but I’m guessing this means the “href=” part didn’t get filled in.
T. Hussein Mississippifarian, time spent harassing Hatfill was spent NOT pursuing whoever actually did this. It was spent, instead, on internal FBI corruption: “pin” the crime on SOMEBODY to just Make The Nasty Case Go Away.
This has obviously not changed in the last seven god-forsaken years.
It doesn’t matter who the hell he was working with in the 1970s. It doesn’t matter if he was a card-carrying uniformed officer in Satan’s Legions.
If you’re spending time fucking off, trying to sweep unpleasant tasks under the carpet, you’re not spending it on productive work.
When you are THE national constabulary organization for the entire United States, working on a no-shit-sherlock case of internal bioterrorism, this is very bad news for the entire country. Because it means that your national constabulary organization cannot be trusted.
What it also means, after seven damned years of non-stop witch hunting passed off as police work, is that your agency has to be reduced to pieces on the floor and rebuilt from scrap. Because the corruption is now structural, so it’s too far gone for reform to be meaningful anymore.

Here’s a newsflash: the FBI has been structurally corrupt from its beginning. It has (by the testimony of one of its own agents) assassinated American citizens. It has repeatedly attempted to incite violence in order to justify suppressing political points of view. It systematically used false testimony regarding laboratory findings to convict suspects. It has been used as the political tool of many presidents, probably including the present one.
Not everyone there is corrupt, not by a long shot. But there are deep, deep problems. Only abolishing the agency will get across the message that a free people cannot endure a politicized national police agency.
