Just because he has no idea how ridiculous he sounds, I present to you a collection of the bons mots of “Mule Rider”, a prolific right-wing commenter who trolls Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight.com site. (He’s one of the breed of righties who claims to be an “independent” yet has all of the right-wing talking points down cold and is never seen to be attacking anyone to the right of Joe Lieberman.)
Follow me past the jump to imbibe his style of (un)reasoned argybargy (erm, argument). Just don’t go there expecting to find any facts in context, backed up with hard data.
Here’s a comment of his from yesterday (in a thread attached to a post which has nothing whatsoever to do with his comment, by the way):

Liberty is dying a slow and painful death. I’ve been trying to peruse several articles on the web here lately, many of which are much more negative towards Obama than positive. Well, the vast majority now have blocks to the links or there is some other dysfunction that makes the article unable to be read.
This is information suppression, folks, and an attack on our freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
The Obama camp is looking to be secretive and hide. They don’t want you to know what they’re up to or anything like that.
You thought the Bush Admin was bad about this? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The administration just elected and now assembling that will take power on January 20th is the most dangerous political team ever put together in this nation’s history. They present dangers never before conceived and are an affront to our most basic freedoms.
Our nation will suffer the consequences, and we will see our demise at the hands of Barack Obama and Co.
Oh noes! Anti-Obama websites being censored and suppressed! But another commenter noticed something strange — Mule RIder never bothered to name the sites in question:

Just one problem with your theory about anti-Obama sites being blocked: Obama’s people aren’t in charge yet. Although you might be excused for your confusion about who is actually President these days, given the number of press conferences Obama is holding on naming his Cabinet.
That having been said, would you post any of these links you’re having trouble with? I would be interested in any problems you might be having.
Funnily enough, Mule Rider has, as of the time of this blog entry of mine, yet to answer this perfectly germane query — and he practically lives at FiveThirtyEight.com, to judge from the frequency of his comments. Instead, he skipped merrily along to the next thread, where he left this bit of loveliness:

Your partisanship blinds you, you ass pimple. You’re letting your emotions of who you want to win cloud your judgement and get in the way of making sound, unbiased analysis.
Too bad you’re too much of a fear-mongering, liberal prick to get it. I’m still waiting for an answer to my challenge, but you are a coward. You’re too scared to even play me in poker. What a pathetic little twink you are!
Grow a pair, you douchebag.
Oh! Such Wildean wit! Surely his foes will fall like scythed wheat before his rhetorical blasts, if not his command of facts in context and numeric expertise! Oh, wait — he doesn’t display any command of facts in context or numeric expertise. All he does is hurl the verbal equivalent of poo bombs.
Here’s a later entry by him, where he does the old wingnut dodge of trying to pretend he’s not a hardcore righty — yet undermines himself by using a trope favored most heavily by hardcore righties! See if you can spot exactly where he gives himself away (besides, of course, by his very nom de plume — true indies aren’t as full of anti-Democrat and anti-lefty obsession and hate as are wingnuts like him):

That’s funny. I’m wondering who “my guy” was in retrospect….seeing how I openly lobbied for NO ONE, and I voted for NO ONE.
Hmmm. Remind me again who “my guy” was. And quit using spin and lies that come from baseless assumptions.
A knock against Barack Obama is in no way an endorsement or blessing for McCain, Bush, Republicans, or anyone of the like.

What, we don’t get enough nuts here, so you have to bring them?
Besides, if you want loonies, Free Republic is the place to shop, with some specialty boutiques like Confederate Yankee serving for niche markets.

Charles, this one is rather easy to dispel: Simply challenge him to provide proof of his assertions. Works like a charm.

I have a boss like this and yes facts stop the conversation fast, if it could be called that. We talk about other things now. Facts never seam to stop these people mainly because they make them up and the truely believe them. Eric Hoffer had them down.
