For posterity: Free Republic responds to Ted Nugent call for assassination

So Ted Nugent, speaking to NRA, says that he will be “dead or in jail” this time next year if Barack Obama is re-elected, and the Secret Service is interviewing him over what certainly sounds like a threat of assassination. This much you know.
So, here’s the Free Republic response (click to view):
About the most critical they got was saying Nugent’s hyperbole might be off the rails.
Your Republican Party: skipped over crazy and went straight to evil.

If the NRA had a shred of decency left they’d apologize for inviting Nugent to speak.

I did say “had” instead of “has” for a reason, Charles. I simply wanted to point out that the real culprit here isn’t Nugent, who is free to be as crazy as he wants to be, but the NRA for endorsing such nuttiness by inviting him to speak. FWIW, some gun rights types are embarrassed by Nugent but far more just shrug and give him a pass because he’s on their side of the issue they most care about. Which gets more polarized with each passing day thanks in no small part to the NRA.

Somehow, I think I understood all that, David.
The NRA is the sales arm of the American small arms industry. Imagining that they might have a shred of decency is like imagining that a used car salesman won’t try to cheat you.
