Feds: Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid

Posted by MEC on March 16, 2007

The FBI is warning that “suspected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States.”

Asked about the alert notice, the FBI’s Rich Kolko said “there are no threats, no plots and no history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern,” although law enforcement agencies around the country were asked to watch out for kids’ safety.

If there’s no reason for concerned, why the warning?

If this is an attempt to knock the Case of the Purged Prosecutors and Valerie Plame Wilson’s testimony to Congress out of the headlines, they’re really getting desperate. I mean. It didn’t even justify raising the threat level to Burnt Sienna.

Rahm Emanuel Is Still an Idiot

Posted by MEC on March 16, 2007

Not content with publicly criticizing Howard Dean for not giving him control of the DNC’s money and then claiming credit for the electoral gains made possible by Howard Dean’s spending priorities, Rahm Emanuel is now embarrassing himself by telling Congressional Democrats to shun the Colbert Report.

If there’s a better way to generate bad publicity by encouraging Stephen Colbert to turn the full force of his satirical scorn on the Congressional Democrats, I don’t know what it is.

Because You Know They Will

Posted by MEC on March 16, 2007

Valerie Plame Wilson testified under oath today that

  • She was a covert agent, she had been in the field within the past five years, and that performing a “desk job” instead of being out in the field did not change her covert status.
  • She was not the person who recommended sending Ambassador Joe Wilson to Niger.

How soon after she finished her testimony did the Usual Suspects proclaim that she lied under oath? Or did they even wait that long?

— Why attacking/invading Iran is dumb in addition to being immoral.

Greg Palast reports that masterminding the US Attorneys’ Night of the Long Knives isn’t the only skullduggery Harriet Miers has done for Bush.

—  Colonel Ted Westhusing killed himself to protest the corruption and madness that is the BushCo handling of Iraq.  Will General David Petraeus care?
