The United States is the only nation to have used nuclear weapons

Hiroshima, after the atomic blast of August 6, 1945

The image of the city of Hiroshima above is from the Ottawa Beatles site. It gives as the source “Air War Pacific Chronology: America’s Air War Against Japan in East Asia and the Pacific 1941-1945” by Eric Hammel, (Pacifica, CA: Pacifica Press, 1988, ISBN 0-935553-26-6)

I have been there, and heard the little children moaning in fear as they walked through the museum, and wept for the dead and the wounded.

Reality

Ron Suskind’s new book The Way of the World, in which he alleges that the White House forged evidence connecting Saddam Hussein to the September 11 attacks, was officially released the day before the anniversary of the Presidential Daily Briefing titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike U.S.”

In an essay in The New York Times Magazine in 2004, Mr. Suskind told us of the Busheviks’ conviction that, in effect, they can make reality be whatever they want it to be:

”We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

That apparently includes ignoring real evidence, and then fabricating evidence to cover up their mistakes and advance their agenda.

Wednesday Morning News Roundup

The battery-powered airplane, the Electraflyer C. Wow. Just — wow. Around $9000 gets you a battery good for 1000 charges at 90 cents a charge (the estimated cost of plugging it into 110-volt household current for six hours; if you use 220 volts, it’s charged up in two hours). Another $9000 gets you the rest of the plane. (Correction: I was looking at the price for the Electraflyer trike; the C airplane is apparently too new to have a price listed. However, the Zenith Zodiac, a kit aircraft of a slightly larger size than the C, typically costs between $20,000 and $30,000 depending on the rig, so I’d expect the C to be around $20,000 to $25,000 — which is still a heckuva deal for a small aircraft.)
