Senator Clinton’s Message

Posted by MEC on August 27, 2008

To summarize Senator Clinton’s message to her supporters:

“It’s not about me, it’s about the future of the country. Do the right thing. Vote for the Democrat.”

It was one fine speech.

It’ll be fascinating, in a “what is the cat playing wi– oh yuck!” kind of way, to see how the Usual Suspects explain it away to keep the “Clintonites for McCain” distraction going.

It was a gracious speech and it should have made clear to all doubters that she is loyal to the party and behind Barack Obama. But I must be getting old. I wasn’t inspired.

That’s what it needed to do, and that’s why I was impressed: she didn’t hold back on it. I particularly appreciated her saying, “Were you in it for me, or were you in it for [the people who need what a Democratic president will do and McCain won’t]?” With the obvious corollary: “Because I was in it for those people, and if you weren’t, then you’re not with me.”

  3. I thought it was a tremendous, inspiring speech for the future of this country. She made very clear that petty opposition to Barack Obama has no place in the Democratic party. “No way. No how. No McCain.” Pithy.

  4. I didn’t envy her the task set out for her, but she pulled it off.
