Mudflats has been doing yeoman’s work covering the Palin nomination. But AKMuckraker struck pure comedy gold here.

  1. The whole photo gallery is quite revealing, especially in light of all the earmarks the town has been getting during her mayoralty and governorship, and the fact that Palin left the mayor’s chair in 2002 leaving the place with $20 million in long-term debt and apparently very little to show for it.

I’m afraid people will see the photos and make bad jokes about Wasilla. That’s not the point of the photo essay, of course. The point is that Sarah Palin was the mayor of a small town with a small town’s issues. It’s not like she had to content with a major budget and major issues as in a city the size of Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, or New York. She’s small-time, and not ready for prime time.

I hope Palin’s critics leave Wasilla alone. The people of Wasilla are no more fair game than is Bristol Palin.
