Caption: I know how to make this stupid shadow stop moving.

    I’ll sit on it.

  2. How is his furry highness today?

His furry highness is annoyed with me because I ate some of the ham instead of giving it all to him. Withal, he’s sitting next to me and purring.

    Is that a bug???

    Nope, it’s not. Too bad.

    • How’s Sweety Girl today, Stormie?

Her coffee gland is working just fine. :)

But more interestingly, she’s pulled something I haven’t seen since Voyager died.

The other night, instead of the usual “hugs ambush”, she nipped me. Not the usual drill, in more ways than you might think.

She has a nip you’d need a physics lab to calibrate. Hard enough to get my sure-fire attention, not hard enough to break the skin, and only trotted out on very special occasions.

She made sure I knew that this was one by following up with the oddest “yip” I’ve ever heard out of a cat. Short, and utterly uncharacteristic.

Turned out the automatic water bowl was done – dry reservoir.

Usually, when this happens, she double teams me with Graymouse.

But this was the human’s-just-come-home drill, so Graymouse was upstairs stomping on the floor. Psywar ops. So Sweety Girl would decide to chase upstairs after him rather than stay downstairs and get petted. That way, he’d get fed quicker. :)

Thing is, cats’ brains are NOT hardwired to communicate with specialized vocalizations – they use gestures instead. So that funny yip was Sweety Girl jumping through about 10 mental hoops, trying to speak “human”.

Never let anybody tell you that housecats don’t bend over backwards, trying to adapt to the strange ways of humans.

“Is this a good place to sit?”

    “It’ll do.”
