That’s right — the bottom 99% of us have lost nearly $5 trillion in lost jobs and home foreclosures and other woes over the last five years, even as the top 1% have got even richer during that same period of time.

    At this point, I think we have to assume that this is a permanent decline in national productivity. For example, students who went to college but never worked, so their skills are no longer marketable. Housing that has been bulldozed. Manufacturing that has permanently left.

    It’s an astonishing record of elite malfeasance.
