State Rep. David Richardson, Florida’s first openly gay legislator, has won reelection without opposition – his Republican challenger bounced her filing fee check and has been kicked off the November ballot.

“I learned at 5:03 p.m. [Tuesday] that I had been declared the winner by the Florida Department of Elections,” said Richardson, D-Miami Beach.

Res ipsa loquiter.

Isn’t it about time for you to visit some beautiful place in Minnesota and post pictures, so I can follow up with a rant about insect pests and 9 months of winter?

      And it’s mid-notwinter right now.

        Peak leech season!

I really think that the lovely green ones, about six inches long and with contrasting red-orange striping along the margins of the body, should be the Minnesota State Annelid.

    • I could post pictures of flood waters and storms, but even that might be hurtful as y’all could use about thirty inches of rain right now.

I spent April and early May in Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois, and have been watching your weather.

Mom’s in Iowa, and within the last two weeks, a storm cell took down major limbs of her 100-year-old oaks, shattered the basswood in the back yard, and tore the tops off a couple of the black spruce along the road. But they’re not having too-much-water problems on the same scale as Minnesota.

However, flood times are great times to visit places such as Jay Cooke State Park or Gooseberry Falls.

Yes, we’re studiously ignoring a historic drought out here, and praying that El Nino will pull our bacon out of the fire just in time.
        It’s not looking good.
