Bradlee Dean And The Catholic Church

Posted by Phoenix Woman on October 16, 2011

Last week, the folks of the Dump Bachmann blog got screwed by YouTube, which canceled their video accounts — and for a short while, their Gmail accounts as well.

Why? Apparently because Bradlee Dean cowed YouTube, which is owned (just as is Gmail) by the huge and deep-pocketed Google, into doing his bidding. Here’s what YouTube told the Dump Bachmann people:

We have disabled the following material as a result of a third-party notification from You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Intl. claiming that this material is infringing:

Bradlee Dean on the Catholic Church

As DB’s Ken Avidor noted back in March, Bradlee Dean Smith is known for abusing copyright laws in order to silence critics:

“This is a case where people don’t want you to see something that’s embarassing to a politician they like, so they’re trying to make it go away,” Avidor says. “It’s Orwell’s memory hole.”

It’s interesting that the video YouTube cited as the reason for their giving the death penalty to Dump Bachmann is one where Dean is, according to those that have seen it, caught telling his devoted fans that Catholicism is riddled with perversion and “old guys checking out your daughters”.

This is not the sort of thing that Dean wants to have floating around as he tries to make nice with the local Catholic hierarchy in the first stages of the plan to ramp up their push for the anti-gay, anti-marriage-equality “Bradlee Dean” ballot measure — that’s the one that was supposed to have been added to the 2012 ballot on the same day he performed the invocation that went so disastrously that it nearly scuttled the bill and caused Republican House Speaker Kurt Zellers to have it struck from the official record. (Gee, wonder if YouTube will now suppress videos of that as well?)

Minnesota Republicans Frantically Rewriting Their Long History with Bradlee Dean

Posted by Phoenix Woman on May 29, 2011

Even as the same conservatives who cheered on Neal Boortz for saying that then-congresswoman Cynthia McKinney “looks like a ghetto slut”, “an explosion at a Brillo pad factory”, and “like Tina Turner peeing on an electric fence” have now suddenly and loudly rediscovered their moral compass by having Laura Ingraham, who Ed Schultz called a “right-wing slut”, complain about Schultz on FOX to accused sexual harasser Bill “Falafel” O’Reilly, we find the local conservatives and Republican operatives who have for years gladly and frequently associated with rabid anti-gay bigot preacher Bradlee Dean are now practicing saying “Bradlee Who?” with a straight face.

Thanks to the efforts of Ken Avidor, who has been documenting Bradlee Dean, his good friend Michele Bachmann, and several other local far-right looney tunes for the better part of a decade, I can now treat you to the varying ways in which local right-wing blogger and radio personality Mitch Berg has described Bradlee Dean over the years.

As noted in the screen shot above of a recent Tweet by Mr. Berg, who you may remember from an earlier posting, he’s been one of the many prominent Republicans practicing their “Bradlee Who?” routine lately. Yet Mr. Avidor was kind enough to point me in the direction of Mitch Berg’s postings over the years concerning Bradlee Dean at Berg’s “Shot in the Dark” blog, postings that belie this posture. Arrest That Woman! She’s A Journalist!

Posted by Phoenix Woman on May 24, 2011

Even as Kurt Zellers and the rest of the Minnesota Republican Party caucus at the Capitol were trying to scrub the record and remove all official evidence that they invited arch-nutjob Bradlee Dean to give the opening convocation on the day an anti-marriage-equality bill — henceforth known as “The Bradlee Dean Bill” — was supposed to be passed, one of Dean’s minions had a folding table set up in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Hutchinson, looking to raise money for Dean’s “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide” ministry.

Bluestem Prairie’s Sally Jo Sorensen tried to interview the kid running the table, but was rebuffed — and you’ve got to watch the video at her site to see what happens next. Suffice to say that he, like Scott Walker, seems to have confused local law enforcement officials with his own palace guard.
